Voluntary Anzeve against coronavirus: The UME uses Spraystream nebulizer cannons to disinfect

On March 14, as soon as the State of Alarm was decreed, we realized that the situation was really serious and that the only thing we could do to contribute our bit in the fight against the coronavirus was to offer the machines that we had available for demonstrations and also the ones we had in stock.

Spraystream Nebulizer Cannon to disinfect

One of the systems that seemed most likely to be efficient was the Spraystream mist cannon , whose main use is to mitigate airborne dust in various workplaces. The first step was to consult with the mist cannon supplier to see if they considered it possible to adapt them to eliminate particles as small as those of a virus. The response was positive, comparing them to the same high-pressure Spraystreams used at festivals.

Knowing this, we launched a free service offering the solution to our customers through our website and social media channels, for anyone who needed it. The only essential requirement was ensuring that no contaminated water was being sprayed, so ideally, the water used should be passed through an ultraviolet filter to eliminate bacteria or be pre-treated. We also advised that the ideal application would be from a truck or trailer equipped with an electric generator and a water tank to hold the mixture with the disinfectant.

On March 21, the Military Emergency Unit (UME) contacted us to confirm they would be coming to our facilities to collect the disinfection cannons , and the project was approved that same weekend. Since then, the UME has been decontaminating large areas using diluted bleach (sodium hypochlorite), a significant help in all the disinfection efforts they are carrying out across the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus as part of “Operation Balmis.”

The first success, which served as a pilot project, was in the IFEMA pavilions: right now it is serving as a hospital to accommodate mild Covid-19 patients. Since then, the streets of different municipalities, airports, stations, markets and residences in Toledo, Seville, Madrid and Valencia have been disinfected.

To date, 15 Spraystream nebulizer cannons have been loaned (10 35i, 4 25i and 1 15i) , including those from Anzeve, those from our rental client Toolquick and other companies that have purchased the solution.

And although they may physically resemble each other, the Spraystreams have nothing to do with snow cannons. With our solution, microdroplets of water are generated in a very controlled way, capable of reaching all nooks and crannies in a very homogeneous way and trapping tiny particles in the environment, at a distance of up to 100 meters.

Finally, we want to thank the UME for the trust they have placed in Anzeve. We are receiving many kind words and expressions of gratitude. We feel very proud and fortunate to be able to assist this great team, which is giving its all for our families.
