Madrid firefighters present their new robot Brokk, for demolition and debris removal

The Madrid Fire Department has added to its resources a demolition and debris removal robot from the Brokk brand , whose work will be fundamental in the rescue of victims, especially in cases where the presence of the rescuer is not viable due to an extreme physical risk.

The robot, a high-tech piece of equipment operated by remote control, is one of 19 units that the mayor of Madrid, Ms. Ana Botella , presented at an event held in the Cecilio Rodríguez Gardens, in El Retiro.

The Brokk 100 is a high-performance professional robot. Compared to manual equipment or other machines, the Brokk 100's demolition and debris removal work is clearly superior in terms of productivity, safety, and ease of use. Furthermore, it performs its work very cleanly and quietly. And because it uses electricity as its power source, the emission of toxic gases is virtually zero.

To maximize the use of the robot, the Madrid firefighters have also acquired several implements to attach to the robot's arm: shears to cut steel and concrete, manipulator pliers, a breaker hammer and a bucket.
