About CONJET: Hydrodemolition Equipment

In the early XNUMXs, the Swedish administration raised the need to find safer and more efficient alternatives to traditional bridge demolition methods.

Background information was available on an innovative procedure, based on spraying water under pressure, for cleaning paint and hard cement deposits.

A team composed of the administration, the sector
construction, ATLAS COPCO and various contractors to evaluate and develop this idea. It was found that the method could selectively distinguish poor quality or damaged cement from that which was not, eliminating the former and leaving intact the one that was in a perfect state of conservation.

The success of the development of demolition using high pressure water relies on a group of professionals from the CONJET project, belonging to ATLAS COPCO and a prototype built in 1983.

Before the CONJET robot was launched on the world market in 1984, a multitude of laboratory analyzes were carried out, among others those of the Royal Institute of Technology, and all of them showed that the method made it possible to eliminate, even by layers, the defective cement from the one that was not, without producing any cracks or collateral damage.

This demonstrated that cleaning with high-pressure water jets was twice as effective as other mechanical methods. Hence its name: hydrodemolition.

In 1990, the CONJET project staff, belonging to ATLAS COPCO, was incorporated as an independent company called CONJET AB.

The objective of the company was focused on the design, development and commercialization of hydrodemolition robots, currently reaching export levels
95% of the production.

All CONJET products comply with the strictest European regulations, and have the most important quality certifications, including ISO 9001.
